It is not compulsory to contact a supervisor before lodging a formal PhD application at VUW, although this is encouraged. You can search for supervisors here.

When you are ready to apply you will do so online. Please make sure you read through the Guide To Application carefully before you apply. This Guide is available here.

Your online application will also constitute your application for the VUW Doctoral Scholarship. Details of this scholarship can be found here.

Once you have submitted your application via the online portal, you should contact Study Options and we will advise you of the necessary documentation that you need to send to us to be certified.

Once your application is complete it will usually take between 8 and 12 weeks for the assessment to be completed. If your application is successful, Study Options will assist you with the acceptance and visa process. We can also provide advice and guidance on accommodation, bank accounts and more!
