You must have provisional supervision in place for your PhD before you submit a formal application. You can search for supervisors at the university here. When contacting supervisors we recommend that you communicate your research intent in a concise but well thought through manner – academic staff will receive a lot of similar requests and are only likely to respond positively to the ones that demonstrate commitment and ability. It is also a good idea to attach a CV (no longer than two pages) and a copy of your academic transcripts.
Alternatively you can submit an ‘Expression of Interest’ form to the Graduate Research Office. The relevant school will then use this form to assess your suitability to undertake a research programme and also its capacity to provide you with an advisory team and research facilities. You can find this form here.
You will then need to write a research proposal. For information on how to write your proposal please click here.
Once you have located a suitable supervisor, please contact Study Options
